Power transformers VS Distribution transformers

1. Different uses: Power transformers are mainly used in power systems to achieve voltage step-up, voltage step-down and power distribution between different voltage levels, and to transmit electricity from one voltage level to another to meet the different needs of the power system for electric energy. 

Distribution transformers are mainly used to supply power to low-voltage loads, and to increase electricity from high-voltage transmission networks to appropriate voltage levels to meet the needs of various low-voltage electrical equipment.

2. Different voltage levels: The voltage level range of power transformers is usually wide, generally ranging from 110 kV to more than 750 kV; 

while the voltage level of distribution transformers is relatively low, mainly in the low voltage range of 10 kV, 35 kV, 66 kV, etc.

3.Structure and size: The power transformer has a complex structure, large size and heavy weight. It is mainly composed of multiple coils on the high-voltage side and the low-voltage side, an oil tank, a cooling device, etc. 

The distribution transformer has a relatively simple structure, is small and light, and is composed of only a small iron core and a few coils.

4.Installation location and application scenarios: Power transformers are mostly used in power systems for long-distance transmission and transformer operations between substations, and are installed in various power stations or substations. 

Distribution transformers are mainly used in low-voltage distribution systems to reduce the voltage of low-voltage power grids to a range acceptable to users, and are usually installed in distribution stations or near users.
